My organisation, Hyppanie/ Felt a Fanny, has been awarded £5000 by Another Way Women Foundation.
We aim to empower teenage girls and individuals assigned female at birth by promoting period awareness, wellbeing, and self-care through creative and holistic workshops. We focus on dismantling stigmas surrounding menstruation and fostering mental, emotional, and physical health. Our workshops, led by professional a felt maker, yoga teachers, therapists, and other practitioners, provide a safe, inclusive space where participants can learn, share, and grow.
Through this work, we aim to build confidence, foster community, and contribute to a brighter and fairer future.
Impact and Reach
Our workshops aim to support approximately 400 11 – to 16-year-old girls annually.
Each session offers education on period awareness and tools for holistic well-being, affecting sustainable change at the individual and community levels.
The workshops will combine:
Menstrual Health Education: Essential knowledge on menstrual cycles, hygiene, and effective period management.
Creative Activities: Sessions led by a professional felt maker where participants craft/needle felt and explore creative expression as empowerment.
Wellbeing Practices: Yoga, belly dancing, Singing, Chakras, mindfulness, and mental health sessions conducted by qualified practitioners to build confidence and resilience.
Community Building: Safe spaces for participants to share experiences and foster a supportive network.
This holistic approach aims to improve knowledge, promote sustainable practices, and enhance emotional well-being while addressing gaps in underserved communities.
“Many young people, particularly those from underserved communities, lack access to comprehensive menstrual education and resources. This project aims to fill that gap while promoting self-confidence and sustainable practices. By creating a space for dialogue and education, we aim to effect systemic change in how periods and menstrual health are perceived and managed.
