Hi, I am Stephanie!

I am native French & Greek, I have been living in Brighton for the last 18 years. I have been actively teaching the Art of Felt making to children and adults, since 2012.
Stephanie Crechriou is an award-winning entrepreneur and an Impactivist, sharing her extended knowledge and practices of felt making with her community.
“Through empowering tailored workshops, Crechriou creates an environment where everyone feels confident about their abilities, diving into their creativity while mindfulness is paramount to benefiting from the full experience.“
‘Hyppanie’ was the name the children gave me in 1997, in the Himalayas when I travelled in India. From London to Delhi in early January 1997; I went to celebrate my 25th birthday in Pushkar. I was in the country for 6 months, and even went to the Andaman Islands and enjoyed Robinson Crusoe life’ style for a month there. I discovered a beautiful culture full of colours and joy. I learned about being resilient in a foreign country. and about myself…
In 2000, my passion for colours took me to a Colour Therapy 6 weeks course, called Aura-Soma for two years, I attended a specialist City and Guild Felt making course, taught by Lizzie Houghton. There, I found the wonderful quality of Wool and colours, which permitted me to create bespoke useful items, and made me feel good about myself and what I could achieve in life. It gave me great confidence to create my very own teaching course, to share my passion. I now cater to any situation, and occasion: my workshops are tailored to your personal needs and aspirations.
I am an ‘Impactivist‘
Viva la vulva I worked in cooperation with Jo Child, founder of Co-women co -working events and ambassador for Rise. We organized an evening celebrating and reducing stigma around the ‘’female form’’. We were hosting together our first in a series of women’s crafting and wellbeing events, to raise funds for the domestic abuse ‘Charity Rise‘. We’d been granted funding from the #celebratenationallottery25, to be able to continue our work, creating these particular events and taking talks, as Ask Me ambassadors for the Charity Rise; which main aim is to offer needed help to women at risk. Numerous activities were on offer: Origami Vulva with the very talented @femigami. we havd cast displays and an opportunities, to sign up for castings. tampon, moon cup creations & keyrings for sale, by the artist Lydia Reeves Brighton, we offered also tasty Vulva cupcakes, made for order, the cream was truly divine. you could also do Jar decorating, Car air freshener, vejazzling, drawing, painting and collaging. The ladies had plenty of things to try!

The participants receive a detailed explanation, how the barbed wired needle works and also the safety issues involved with needle felting, how to hold the needle correctly, and how to basically ‘repeatedly poke, the fibers downwards, to create the desired embellishment and ornaments . ‘’Eyes on the prize‘’ at all times!!! On a side note, there is the small risk to stab your finger instead of the wool (if it resists, don’t persist”, or the needle will break!)
You will receive pre felted Vulva shapes, a sponge and a felting needle. There is a bag with small pieces of wool available (all colors of the rainbow)! Perfect for beautifying your own felt vulva.
When the participants are satisfied, with their art work; they can have the choice, to keep ‘it safe’ and in view, by adding a key ring, a brooch or a hair clip!

29 of March 2022. My latest engagement was for Georgina’s birthday, at her home.

One happy customer, I rode on the bus to her home; got it set up for her and her four friends, in a very cute she-shed, at the top of her garden. It was a cold but sunny day!
I took the ladies through the process of needle felting; they chose their colorful piece and the activity started, with great conversations, innuendos, jokes, sometimes serious words too, because ‘Felting a Fanny‘ is a very healing experience! I want to develop more of that angle with the right professionals! (see below)
Here are their comments:
So for my birthday I did a #fannyfelting course with the amazing Stephanie @hyppanie181. And with some amazing goddesses . We felted little #vulva keyrings and broaches. I will be taking mine everywhere with me to remind myself of how powerful I am! Stephanie made this hat also which I want to borrow for a wedding! It was so beautiful. And who would know really!!! I’d love to see how many people might work it out 🤣 everyone with a vulva or who wants a vulva would love this course. It’s magical. I felt our power as we sat there quietly pushing our wool around and sniggering over the continuous innuendos.
I highly recommend this experience. It was so much fun and Stephanie is awesome. She had loads of interesting facts about felting and she helped us all to make amazing fannies!! She’s a dude!! It’s a really unique well thought through workshop and I want to do another one so I can make a fanny bag or a fanny broach. I recommend this to anyone with a Vulva.
A captivating exploration into the world of the Vulva✨ Coupled with the celebration of my beautiful friend’s birthday. With heartfelt gratitude for this magical and light hearted experience! Surrounded by some of the most wonderful and empowering women I have the absolute pleasure of knowing ✨ and of course the tutor extrordinaire…
–What a birthday celebration
Today, I felted a replica/abstract interpretation of my own vulva and it was fanny-tastic!
This workshop was facilitated by the wonderful “Stefanny” of @hyppanie181 who guided us through the technique of needle felting and talked to us about the history of it and how her love of working with it developed.
The process is really therapeutic & a very mindful, calming activity. And it was so nice to sit amongst these powerhouse women who I have the absolute privilege of sharing life with to make these badges.
And the cake! – you are truly remarkable.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY. You’re magic. This was special! you’re all delicious. And your vulvas are beautiful and unique and absolutely need to be celebrated.
And thank you Stephanie – I don’t think this is the last time we will see you x Viva La Vulva!!

How it works: I first explain to the participants, how the barbed wired needle works and the safety issues involved, with needle felting. How to hold the needle, and how to basically repeatedly poke the fibers, downwards to create the desired embellishment and ornaments. The participants will sit down, around the table and will be handled with a foam sponge, a special barbed wire needle, and a woolly shape, of their choice and the possibility to choose from 80 colours of the best quality of Merino wool, 23 Microns to play with.
Then, I demonstrate the technique of needle felting. The participants will then start the activity independently. When the felt piece is nicely needle felted, it can be decorated with other bits of pearls and/or beads.
Needle felting is a very mindful activity and highly creative! The guests will have a lot of fun needle felting their piece. I create/ needle felt every shape that is the base. for them. It is often a conversation starter, where the participants really get to open up to each other.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Needle felting is as creative and versatile as the participants can be! I will take you through the safety issues and I will accompany you in creating your most amazing and bespoke needle felted piece. Everyone is an Artist!
